Performance

A power increase of the order of 3% to 5% can be expected when fitting UniFilter's RAM POD. What is far more obvious after fitting the unit is the much improved smoothness in acceleration - this is provided by the ram tube characteristics of the RAM POD and the increased surface area of the filter when compared to standard filters. Most top race and Rally teams benefit from Rampods' Hp gains as well as reliability in severe conditions. Areas where most other filters fail.

Economy

Again it is the increased surface area of the filter that will provide improvement to economy. In fact, what the RAM POD provides is a decrease in vacuum behind the filter surface of the filter allowing a much more accurate reading by the engine management system sensor. Actual results vary from car to car, mainly due to the efficiency of the original filter system, however, the worst result you can expect is an improvement of around 4% in fuel savings. On some badly designed original air filter units, results of 8% fuel savings have resulted with fitment of the RAM POD.

UniFilter's RAM POD will fit to most E.F.I. and Turbo intake systems where the management sensor is not fitted inside the original air box assembly. The original air box is removed and the RAM POD fits in that location. Fitment is fairly simple using the universal bracket kit supplied with the RAM POD. RAM PODs are available for systems using 57mm, 63mm, 70mm, and 80mm flexible hoses to their existing management system. The RAM POD locates on 3 heavy duty flexible rubber mounts for vibration free stability.

Serviceability

As with all UniFilters the RAM POD is fully serviceable - the foam pod section can be simply removed by releasing a hose clamp, washed out with mineral turpentine, re-oiled and assembled in a matter of a few minutes. Should you require a replacement pod cover in years to come, the cover is available at a cost far less than a paper element. No need for expensive spray cleaners or specialist technicians to help clean the unit. The foam filter is the easiest and cheapest filter to clean available.

Superior Filter Efficiency 

Unifilter holds a certificate for both the Korean and Japanese market entry. This certificate allows Unifilter to be used for both defence applications and government transport applications.

Our filter was tested at the Seoul University and was rated at 99.2% efficiency with a micron rating of 1 to 2 micron collection ability. As a comparison - paper filter efficiency rates at approximately 96% and 30 to 35 micron collection.. (This is for original equipment paper air filters - aftermarket would rate no where near this).

You may also care to note a recent K and N advertisement that stated that a foam outer was now available for their filter which improved the K and Ns dust retention by 90% whilst only increased air flow restriction by 2%. This would indicate the Dust Retention of a K and N would be in excess of 100 micron - if the foam cover produces only 2% restriction - why not use a foam filter in the first place.
