More info www.Mtbullersprint.comSince our last rally update, the MRT
crew have been a little quiet! After moving into our new facility less than 3 months prior the 2005 Mt Buller event, the DNF after a top ten stage time around Mansfield, left us a little gutted, and a little poor! ( the engine fire was caused by a crank case breather coming off and blowing oily air all over the turbo), so the car was parked and not touched for over 6 mths! In the latter half of the year we built a brand new (even more powerful) Group A engine, rebuilt the main and spare gearbox's, as well as the diff and crack tested every item! The result is a very well prepared car, one that is still being run in, [as usual], rallying is always "last minute motors". Its just worse at MRT as all the clients cars often come before mine and even more often hard to get parts are "borrowed" from my rally "kit" and this sets things back even more! Anyway, this event (in my aging years) is one I relish, and whilst its relatively short, in Kms, its very hard on the car, and crew. The new car, and more so the engine is built on the many engines we have built over the last few years, the group A engine was originally built based on kiwi info, and then 2 years ago on ozzie info, and then again on some newer info. Well we decided we wanted to use ONLY OUR info this time and as such the new engine is 100% MRT and 100% our ability and knowledge. The result is very encouraging as we do a lot of r/d and the new update has some recent "tweaks" we learnt of in the P-25 so the new dyno data will show up this when it finally is let loose on the MRT dyno next week. What follows is the recent Press release. Third time lucky for Middleton. Brett Middleton and co driver / brother, Scott, will compete at Mt Buller for the 3rd year running. A top ten result in 03, a Fire in 04, Middleton is set for a good result in 05. "we were one of the first to get our entry in again for this year, we would not consider missing out" Brett said. Owner of well known tuners, MRT Performance, Middleton will compete in his potent Group A Impreza STi. The car was first built in Japan in 1998 for the Perth WRC event, and later went on to win the Australian Championship with Cody Crocker. Featuring now an all new big HP Group A engine, the car has been converted from rally spec to suit the unique Mt Buller roads and rules. "We are glad that Dean will run this year in the 05 spec Impreza rally car as this gives us a yardstick to measure against." Brett said. The Middleton group A machine has more modifications but is older and not as technically advanced. "The 05 Impreza is a good car, big brakes, electronic centre diff, 6 speed trans, are all standard features not even thought of when our car was manufactured" he added Avid Skier's, the Middleton brothers are members of Ski Lodge Oldina that has a large unit at Mt Buller and Lodge at Falls Creek. "to have an excuse to come to the Victorian ski fields to ski is good to come back in Summer is even better to race!" they both said! Long time Sponsors EcuTeK ECU tuning Software, Whiteline, and Dynapack Dyno's will feature on the Impreza.
