4th May 2000. Ready for Rally of Canberra
Its late, but here is a brief report, its still raining outside, but we all hope
the weather will clear up for the event, thankfully the rain will settle the
dust and make it a more enjoyable event for crews and spectators.
Andrew and I managed to do Recce' over all stages 3 times, only 2 of these stages we chose to only do twice, being happy with our second pass, we saved time and gave a 3rd pass a miss! (I hate doing 'notes !)
The guys arrived late tonight with the car, what an effort the whole team has put into this event, 11 people working (voluntary) on the car Tuesday nite plus the MRT boys during the day at MRT Performance, whilst Andrew and I were here doing our notes. The car is the best we can get!

The field is very competitive, many crews rapidly doing notes to get every edge they could to be %100 on the mark for the real thing when it starts Friday. Possum has upped the level, announcing his team will do the rest of the Asia Pac Events in his Ol' faithful group A car, with support from Subaru and Caltex.
Neal did more testing last w/e and is probably feeling a little better than he did in Perth last month (see www.rally.com.au for a report). Dean Herridge is our 'mark' for the event, showing the pace and experience in Perth, Dean has more driving time in a WRX than me, and is a friend and close rival, we fought many events in F2 in past years so I look forward to renewing that, this w/e now we have the bugs sorted in our car.
Other crews are also worth watching, John Louie Leyraud, a friend from New Caledonia, I personally saw him race a rapid F2 Peugeot in his country some time ago and he is fast! He is driving a WRX.
Just in front of us, local John Mitchell is another hard charger, in his Lancer EVO 3, a little ageing, john makes up for it in shear talent, I competed against him in the Rally sprint days in our Turbo Datsun 1600!! John also competes in the NSW championship with us, last event we had his measure, I expect him to be on the ball this w/e!
Any way time for bed, tomorrow we are up early for turbo sealing and scrutiny, (we have to remove the whole turbo for this plus get our spare checked and sealed) then gearbox checking (plus the spare) then the car has to be scrutineered! I hope the rain has stopped!
Best wishes!
Brett
