Instead of pushing for a win at this weekends (Tasmanian) ARC Saxon Safari, MRT crew Brett Middleton and Lyndall Drake will be testing gearbox components in their Subaru WRX.
"To succeed in the Australian Rally Championship you have to be on the ball, and we are already planning for next years series, Brett said. "This year has been one long list of learning and next year we plan to put it all to very good use" he added.
MRT have been quietly
working on many new parts for their Group A Impreza STi, one of them a new gear
ratio set, in preparation of the rule changes in Group N for 2001. The dog
change ratio set they test is basically a Group N set even though their car is
Group A. The only changes is a gearbox cooler kit, that also is under test.
"Many crews are looking for a gear set to use for next year so we are ready to fulfil their needs" Brett said. "Some are in Australia however many are overseas" he added.
The MRT team this weekend have new Co driver Lyndall Drake, temporarily replacing regular Andrew Benefield whom is in Sydney with commitments to the Olympics. A regular Co-driver for many crews, Lyndall has a wealth of experience and is looking forward to the task.
"I am looking forward to the weekend with MRT as so far they have made every effort to make my job easier it will be great to be in the top ten " Lyndall said. Brett's team are very professional and I expect a good result" she added.
The Saxon Safari starts from the centre of Hobart at 10am and finishes Sunday at DEC 1PM.
