Team News from MRT

UPDATE
As the rally season is about to get underway, it's time we updated you on what we have been up to and what we have planned for the 2001 season.

The MRT Crew of Andrew Benefield and I, will once again be competing in our STi Impreza for a combination of both the local State Championship, as well as the National Championship, super Series.

PLANNED EVENTS
Plans also (currently) include The International events of:

Subaru Rally Canberra (formally the FAI rally)
Rally New Zealand, (WRC event)
and, if we can, return to Jamaica to beat the locals!

LAST YEAR
As most of you know from last years reports, we competed for the first time in Jamaica. It was a great trip. With a 4th outright result. The local people were extremely friendly and we hope to take up their offer to return this year. The Local (NSW) State Championship series is more competitive than ever, and we look forward to returning to some selected events to see what we can shake up.

Our overall plan in 2001 is to again challenge for the Privateers Championship of the ARC.

We wont be going to the first event of the ARC in Perth next month, as its simply too far and costly, as we can run three local State Championship events for the same cost.

BIRTHDAY
The car has had a small birthday over Xmas with most of the teams efforts being put into the service Truck!

A simple gearbox check was all that was needed after Jamaica, the failure we suspected as a centre Viscous being tracked down to a failed front LSD hemisphere. Probably our fault as it had done too many events, and we should have replaced it. The gear set looked like brand new, we still did a precautionary crack test, only to find, as expected, no cracks! BOC, the people who supply all the gas for MRT, have joined us this year, well known in Australia as major naming rights holder of the Super Touring, we are proud they have chosen to join our team!
