. The event marks the serious start of the 2001 ARC season for the
Middleton Rally Team, while the big budget teams are heading to Western
Australia for the official ARC opener on March 31st and April Fools Day (which
is certain to make for some interesting headlines if anyone comes unstuck).

In order to keep his style appropriately sideways (and give the team volunteers something to clean on Tuesday night) Brett spent last weekend 'playing' in the dirt as a trainer with the NSW WRX Club at their Richmond Dirt Day. While the dust was unbelievable the fun was second to none despite the car not having an active handbrake.
And on the topic of the club and of interest to all WRX owners and enthusiasts, Rally Of Canberra weekend is also playing host to the WRX Festival which is expected to include a world record gathering of the undisputed classic car of modern times. For further information visit the NSW club website at www.wrx.org.au
In international news Subaru had a disappointing time in the all tarmac Catalunya Rally last weekend. French outfit Citroen dominated early only to be overtaken by the sister company car of Peugeot driver Didier Auriol who ended the weekend victorious, followed home by team mate Panizzi. Richard Burns finished a disappointing 8th after a gearbox gremlin on the opening day scuppered his chances of any points. Motorsports international weekly bible Autosport has superb online coverage of the FIA World Rally Championship including live updates as well as reports and news between events. Check out www.autosport.com for excellent information from the world of F1, Rally, Champ Cars, F3000, F3 etc etc
So there you go for a bit of MRT, national and international news. Tune in weekly for updates….
