Rally Sets new benchmark.
Coopers Pale Ale Rally of South Australia. ARC Rd 3
Whilst
the South "Aussies" cant control the bad weather, (see below) they can
set a good event!
So far this new event has impressed many, from pre event bulletins, the road book, just the general "feeling" is impressive. MRT is looking forward to a good event as well, having updated the car with new components since the last event, the NSW State rally, at Bega, last month.
RECCE'
Pre event Recce' was completed today by all crews, a total of 3 runs per special
stage is permitted and to achieve this, crews were up at 6 am and in the forest
by 7. This event is new so all crews had no previous "notes" to amend
or ad to, therefore the time taken is much longer. Ad to this the rain that has
fallen for the last few days and we all had fun in the mud!
Some stages have been shortened, with even 4wd recce' vehicles finding the roads
impossible.
ROADS
The stages chosen are a great mixture of the famous fast roads of past ARC's
whilst adding some fresh new stages to test crews, as a result teams will see
stage speeds vary as much as the road conditions will! Some incredibly fast
stages will test drivers courage, and add to this some great Shire roads that
are "pure heaven" will ad to the wide smiles expected at the finish
line's.
The Mt Crawford Forest Stage will show spectators some great views of the
Rally Cars, with an amazing course chosen to get every possible chance of the
roads used. The spectator points are crammed full of tents, Mitsubishi vehicles,
corporate marquees and a whole heap of food vans... Ad to this the man made
water splash's and the many Natural ones, people who attend this event will
surely enjoy them selves..!
TEAM NEWS
MRT will now contest the rest of the Australian Rally Championship, this one,
Tasmania on the 4th 5th August, and Melbourne 1st 2nd September. Then the team
heads off to the New Zealand WRC event 21st to the 23rd September.
The Jamaican event is yet to be confirmed by the organisers.

TEAM Gossip
As again, (in Bega) the MRT boys excelled in their antics, the (new) team Truck
driver succeeding in bogging the truck in a car park adjacent the motel in the
pouring rain, only to call a tow truck to get them out....
Another rally team assisted and the boys were unable to cancel the tow truck,
by the time it arrived they were well underway in getting the car out so they
had to pay him ($100) to watch!!
At least in an effort to beat them another well known team bogged their truck at
the Shake down test in the Mt Crawford Forest, it was agreed they beat MRT in
the depth of the axles of the truck in the mud!
