Post Saxon Safari event news.
A brief update on where we are at following MRT's Small "mishap" after the Saxon Safari (ARC) event last week.
The car was returned
to MRT Performance, following its return trip overnight, over Bass Strait by
boat, collected from the dock yard, by our trusty driver, Dave and driven 15 hrs
North from Melbourne (Capital city of Victoria) to Sydney (Capital City of New
South Wales). As it did not arrive until late Tuesday evening the usual Tuesday
nite "rally Nite: at MRT was postponed to Thursday, of which all the team
pulled out a fast one to strip the car in readiness for its visit to Uncle
Keith's (Premier Panel Beating in Greenacre).
One close inspection, by Keith and Graham at PPB, the list of parts grew a little.
We also found the sudden stop in the dirt gutter also pushed back the LH front rail slightly, this is the corner that was replaced by PBMS, when Cody had a "little" off in Coffs Harbour ARC 2 years ago, and then was tested by myself for strength when Andrew and myself had an other "off" in Falken rally QLD the following year. So the car will need a little stretch.
The pic attached was taken just today, where at Premier Panel Beating, the guys have done incredibly well to start re fitting new parts and will be ready for some Fresh Standox paint, by Nick the guru painter later this week.
All plans going well we should have it back early next week, with a total turn around time of less than 1 1/2 weeks, not bad effort for a panel shop 'eh!
Group A motor
Things have also been moving fast at MRT Performance, the new Group A engine is
almost complete and will be ready to slot into the rally car when it returns
from "Uncle Keith's"....
We have to then find time to run it in and complete its tuning.
Unfortunately due to the rushed strip of the car we were unable to get the Group
N (and a bit) engine Dyno'd as a base to compare the new engine to, but we are
confident the seat of the pants drive will prove obvious.
If anyone is interested this engine will be for sale very shortly as is and
its in very good condition, it has all the right parts and was brand new just
when we purchased the car. It has done approximately 10 event, complete with
inlet to turbo, no inlet manf , but with whole engine and exhaust manf, turbo
and custom engine pipe. Please reply em for more details.
Anyway, more work to try to pay the parts bills!
